Department History

The Department of Public Administration at the Tamkang University, founded in 1964, is one of the most honored institutions in Taiwan on account of it’s offering a program in public affairs. The department has been dedicated to excellence in the theory and practice of public administration as well as global citizenship education. The department has trained thousands of professionals in public administration and management for public and private sectors. In addition to the regular undergraduate program, we began to offer the Bachelor Program of Extension Education in 1997 for the purpose of enhancing the general intelligence and capacity of the public. The master program in public policy (MPP) and Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) were offered in 1999 and 2003, respectively. Graduation requirements are the completion of a minimum 128 credit hours for the undergraduate program, 128 for the continuing education program, and 33 and 30 plus thesis for MPP and EMPA, respectively.
